Park to become parking

WESTWOOD Park is to be turned into a 652-space car park for Royal Oldham Hospital staff.
The proposal was given the green light by council planning committee members last night.
Hospital bosses will give the council £400,000 for a new play area in Cottam Street and land for a five-a-side pitch on the neighbouring Westhulme site.
Graham Lord, head of estates development at Pennine Acute Trust, which runs the hospital, said that developments such as the new women and children’s unit had increased the need for parking,
::TWO international companies based in Oldham have been given the go-ahead to expand.
NOV Mono Pumps has been granted permission to extend its main warehouse, install new plant and machinery and create a 200-space car park at the former BAE site at Greengate, Chadderton, where the famous Second World War Lancaster Bomber was built.
The company moved from Audenshaw last December to increase manufacturing capacity in an investment project worth over £20 million.
Innovative Technology Ltd, which manufactures cash-handling equipment, has been given permission for a two-storey building at its headquarters in Derker Street. The building will provide space for offshoot technology businesses as well as offices and a staff gym.
The company provides technology to international gaming, amusement and retail industries and has offices in Europe, Asia, North and South America.
