STARS from TV talent shows wowed the crowds at a show-stopping Oldham Pride on Saturday.
The ninth Pride event — “One World, One Heart, One Pride” — celebrated the recent passing of gay marriage legislation.
A spectacular parade, complete with a glittering globe, drag queens and even a giant pink owl, toured the town centre before heading to Gallery Oldham on Greaves Street for the main event.
Hundreds of people young and old carried flags, giant hearts and red balloons while drums and whistles provided an upbeat backing.
“X-Factor” star Kitty Brucknell headlined the show, while “Britain’s Got Talent” semi-finalists Showbears also took to the stage.
Oldham’s Pink Triangle Theatre Company performed its powerful “Show One, Too”.
Jonathon Hampton, chairman of Oldham’s LGBT Events Group, said: “It’s been our best Oldham Pride yet, with more people here than ever, great acts, and a really friendly atmosphere. The feedback from everyone I’ve spoken to has been brilliant and the sun’s kept shining.”
