THOUSANDS of people have played a part in the search to find a missing dog in Shaw.

Six-year-old Harvey, a Dogue-de-Bordeaux, went missing from a farm on Buckstones Road last Wednesday morning and suffers regular epileptic fits.

Owner Craig Pemberton is concerned he has now gone without medicine for almost a week

Heather Keenan of Briar Dawn Veterinary Centre in Shaw, said: “Harvey takes tablets every day and the consequences of not having them are very serious. He will definitely be having fits - and one of these could be fatal.

“He could have just wandered out of his home and got lost, but he is a very valuable breed so we are worried has been stolen. This breed is usually taken to be trained to fight, or for breeding - the puppies are valuable.

“Over 2,300 people have read about Harvey’s disappearance on our Facebook page and many have contacted us with possible sightings. One woman even travelled from Chesterfield with her tracker dogs to help. She thinks he may have reached the Heyside area; and we have had a recent sighting in Derker.

“We are just desperately hoping he is found, so we can get him back on his medication and reunite him with his owners. The way people have stepped forward to help has been overwhelming”

If anyone thinks they have seen Harvey, they are asked to contact his owner Craig Pemberton on 07501135898.
