THE Royal Oldham Hospital’s outpatient eye service will next week move to the town centre’s Integrated Care Centre.
The move, on Tuesday, is the latest step in NHS Oldham’s drive to take services out of the hospital and put them into the heart of the community.
Patients will now be seen in modern premises in New Radcliffe Street, close to the bus station.
The new second-floor Eye Clinic will treat eye diseases and injuries including cataracts, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, children’s eye conditions, orthoptics, vitreo-retinal and corneal conditions.
Patients who need more intensive surgery will be offered a range of hospitals to choose from.
Mr Tanveer Hashmi, clinical director at the trust, said: “This is a positive move. Patients will be treated in a new state-of-the-art clinic in the town centre.
