A HUGE slab of chocolate fudge cake, six chilli sausages, a whole black pudding and a pint of cider.
Competitors at Daisy Nook Garden Centre’s Man v Food contest had their work cut out when they attempted to force the mammoth feast down as fast as possible.
The six eaters had to munch away under baking sunshine and the gaze of visitors to the monthly Farmers Market at the Failsworth garden centre.
The competition, part of a weekend of fundraising activities in aid of Breast Cancer Research, was won by Sam Smith — one of two women taking part — who polished off her grub in under 10 minutes.
She said: “I got the fudge cake out of the way first but the cider was the hardest part. I am really pleased I won - I don’t think I’ll need to eat for a few days now.”
Other charity activities on the day included a baking competition for adults and children and a valiant effort from Kim Ward who sat in a bath of beans for two hours. Her bath raised £300.
Event organiser Charlotte Whittle said: “I am really pleased with the turnout. I have no idea how much money we have raised, but every penny counts.”
