LABOUR has unveiled its candidates for the North-West’s 2014 European elections.
Current Euro-MP Arlene McCarthy heads a list of eight hopefuls, including Theresa Griffin, Afzal Khan, Julie Ward, Wajid Khan, Angeliki Stogia, Steve Carter and Pascale Lamb.
Mrs McCarthy helped draft EU law on bankers’ bonuses and appeared in the 100 most influential women in European finance in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
She said: “We have a brilliant team of candidates who I know have the right skills and experience to fight for the best deal for the North-West.
“Jobs in our region are dependent on the EU. That’s why it’s important to get Labour Euro-MPs elected. We will fight for jobs and growth to boost the regional economy.
“Labour’s teams will be listening to and working with people across the region to make sure we get the best deal from Europe.”
