Bus stop on the move
Date published: 13 August 2013
MOVING a familiar bus stop to a country road has turned into a mini-saga — and it will soon be on the move again.
Confusion began eight months ago when the stop, which has been in Delph New Road, Dobcross, for 50 years, was relocated to a position users claimed was too dangerous. Residents complained to their local councillors about lack of consultation.
And Councillor Garth Harkness has now criticised Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) for its handling of the move.
He said: “The site is completely inadequate. People can’t wait for buses and use the footpath at the same time because they can’t step back. Transport for Greater Manchester has already acknowledged it was positioned in error.”
The stop is to be moved opposite Oakdale Court as soon as possible.
