A 51-YEAR-OLD man suffered severe injuries after falling 25ft from the roof of a house in Hathershaw.
John Higgins was airlifted to hospital after the incident but his condition was described as “not life threatening”.
He had climbed on to the roof of the property in Honeywell Lane shortly after 10am yesterday but lost his footing, falling two storeys.
He landed on a speared gate before hitting the ground, seriously injuring his arm.
An air ambulance rushed to the scene and he was taken by helicopter to Wythenshawe hospital.
The police attended to keep onlookers back after a crowd gathered when the air ambulance touched down close to the scene.
A police spokeswoman said: “The man is stable and having tests. His condition is not life threatening at this stage.”
Mystery still surrounds the incident as it is not yet known why Mr Higgins was on the roof or the full circumstances of his fall.
There was no ladder visible near the property but a pair of shoes could be seen on the roof near a skylight.
