Birthday bonus for youth charity

OLDHAM’s Businessman of the Year used his birthday to make more money — for Oldham young people’s charity Mahdlo
Steve Ingham of Safeguard Group was named Oldham’s businessman of the year at the One Oldham Business awards in May.
His invitation-only birthday party had one condition: that guests stump up some cash in raffles and competitions to raise money for community group Mahdlo. And the condition paid off: Mahdlo representative Muzahid Khan picked up a cheque for over £1,125.
Mr Ingham said: “Safeguard Group working with the council to get Oldham working, but we also want to do our own bit and thought this was a great way to raise some cash for Mahdlo.”
