A Fitton Hill woman has been prosecuted by Oldham Council after rubbish from her home was found dumped in another part of the borough.
In December enforcement officers found several bin bags dumped in an alleyway off Edward Street, Werneth. Letters in the bags led to Noreen Keblie (33), of Keswick Avenue, who admitted that she had had left unwanted rubbish at the side of her house and had then given a man £20 to dispose of it.
Though given a conditional discharge after pleased guilty to not checking where the rubbish was going to be taken, she faced costs of £540.
In other cases heard by Oldham magistrates, three people were fined for similar breaches of environmental health laws.
Joyce Haigh, who dropped a cigarette butt in Albion Street left a fixed penalty notice unpaid, and legal proceedings led to a 12-month conditional discharge and £315 costs.
Janet Tighe, the owner of a Coalshaw Green Road beauty salon, was given a 12-month conditional discharge with £300 costs after admitting she took shop waste home or to the tip rather than pay a commercial contract.
And Philip Wilcock of Limeside Road pleaded guilty to flytipping when rubbish he claimed was left at a recycling bank was found in an alleyway on Limeside Road. A 12-month conditional discharge was accompanied by costs of £515.
