CHURCH repairs: Father David Hawthorn outside St Margaret’s Church
AN historic church that needed to raise money for repairs has been awarded a grant of £158,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
St Margaret’s Church, in Chapel Road, Hollinwood, will use some of the windfall towards the restoration of the west window, created by a famous Belgian stained-glass designer, Jean-Baptiste Cappronier.
The money will also help to restore and reroof the south chancel and Lady Chapel.
Father David Hawthorn said: “This is such great news for us.”
Fundraising is now underway at St Margaret’s to raise at least £20,000 to fully cover the repair.
More information is available on the church’s website at www.magsnchads.org.uk.
