Rose on her 100th birthday
A centenarian who lived in Oldham all her life has died a fortnight before her 101st birthday.
Her daughter, Jean Cordwell, said: “She was a lovely person, a friend to everyone and she would always do her best for everyone. She was my rock and I could depend on her for so much. She never let anyone down,” Jean said.
Last August Rose celebrated her 100th birthday at Sainsbury’s in Union Street. Staff got together to throw her a birthday party since she shopped there every week.
The centenarian, who had lived in her own home on Park Road since her husband died in 1970, passed away at the Royal Oldham Hospital last Thursday, following a heart attack.
