PERMANENT FEATURE: the lamp in Gladstone Terrace Road, Greenfield.
A STREET lamp in Greenfield has been shining continuously for the past five years!
Steven Quilter of Warlow Crescent, Greenfield says neighbouring street Gladstone Terrace Road has a lamp standard which has been burning brightly for 24 hours a day.
He says he complained to the council years ago, but nothing was done.
Mr Quilter added: “It was on when I moved to the area a few years ago. E.ON replaced the concrete lamp with a new one about nine months ago, so I thought it might start working properly — but it still burns all day long. How much is this costing the tax payer?”
E.ON has been involved in street lighting works in the area for the past year and replaced the Gladstone Terrace Road columns nine months ago.
A spokesman said: “We have arranged for an engineer to check the lighting.”
The council says it has no record of Mr Quilter’s complaint.
