The new voice of Oldham Athletic is Moorside resident Adam Wilson - who beat 11 other hopefuls at the “X-Factor” style audition to become the club’s new match announcer.
The lifelong 31-year-old fan will fill the boots of David Broadbent, who stepped down to concentrate on his other club duties.
Adam, a teacher, said: “I always wanted to be a professional footballer, but that dream has gone. What better way to be involved in the club I love than on match days doing this job.”
Adam will welcome people to the club, read messages from sponsors and list the home and away sides before the match and changes during play.
He added: “I have done the PA for a lot of fundraising events such as race nights. I’ve also had a lot of job interviews - some in front of scary panels; but I was never as nervous as I was for this one.”
Adam makes his debut on Saturday alongside Dave when Latics play Port Vale.
