Proud pupils seeing stars

GCSE: PROUD Failsworth School students have achieved terrific GCSE results.
The school, in Brierley Avenue, achieved its best results - with 97 per cent of pupils achieving five A* to C grades.
Three students — Faye Lyon, Ellie Mason and Nicole Millward — scored 15 A* to C grades or equivalents each.
And 17 students scored 10 or more grade A*-C or equivalent, with 26 per cent gaining at least three A* to A grades.
Stand-out students included Samantha Lear, who gained 12 A* to C grades and is going on to do psychology, maths, history and English at Xavarian College in Manchester.
Eleanor Rowbotham got 13 A* to C grades and will be studying biology, chemistry, maths and English at Oldham Sixth Form College.
Oliver Taylor gained 13 A* to Cs and will now study for A-levels in maths, economics, history and further maths.
Head girl Hayley Evans made stunning progress, after receiving support for additional learning needs. She achieved 14 GCSEs — 11 of them at A* and A grades. Hayley is planning to go into nursing after college.
Rebecca Kelly gained 14 A* to Cs and will be studying biology, English literature, fine art and ancient history at Oldham Sixth Form.
