POLICE are hunting two conmen they call “the lowest of the low” for stealing from a 92-year-old woman.
The pair tricked their way into the elderly woman’s home in Chadderton on Tuesday afternoon when the victim was gardening at the front of her home in Hollinwood Avenue.
One of the walked down an alley at the side of the house while the other distracted her.
They claimed to be from the “water board” and asked her to turn off the water. The woman let the offenders in and while one stayed with her, the other ransacked a bedroom, stole cash and smashed a door.
The pair fled in the direction of Hollinwood Avenue.
Detective Constable Adam Frank said: “These men are the lowest of the low.
“I’m keen to hear from anyone who saw them on Tuesday afternoon, or knows who they are.”
Both men are described as white, of stocky build, bald and aged 40-50.
One wore a dark, long-sleeved jacket, a dark T-shirt with a white horizontal emblem across the chest, and lighter-coloured trousers.
The other wore a peaked hat, a white long-sleeved top, dark trousers and white trainers.
