Musical talent entertains crowds in town centre
Date published: 02 September 2013
TALENTED musicians entertained town-centre shoppers at Saturday’s Sound of Oldham event.
Performers ranging from rapper Darren Berry to Meatloaf tribute act Peter Young took centre stage in the High Street from 10.30am to around 4pm.
The event was organised by Oldham Town Centre Partnership and first up was soloist Emmy Lou. She was followed by performers who included Pucker Up Chuck, a trio from Oldham College, band OK Broken, a range of vocalist and guitarists and artists from Square 1 Studios in Oldham.
Oldham Scottish Pipe Band attracted a large crowd, with many whipping out their smart phones to film the set, which included Scottish classics and a medley of popular war-time songs such as “Pack Up Your Troubles”.
They came hot on the heels of singer Laura Mac, from Failsworth, who teaches at Accrington and Rossendale College.
