£10,000 raid hits work on skatepark
Date published: 03 September 2013
CONSTRUCTION of a new £100,000 skatepark was hit after thieves swiped £10,000 worth of tools.
The thieves looted a construction welder, a generator, diesel and tools from the Milnrow site between 10am last Wednesday and 8am the following morning.
Secretary for Friends of Milnrow Park, Irene Davidson said she was appalled by the news after residents spent three years fundraising for the skatepark.
She said: “I’m absolutely disgusted — we’ve waited seven years for the skatepark and it’s taken three years to raise the money.
“They stole almost every piece of equipment we needed to carry on with the skatepark — the only thing they left was the digger.”
Police investigations are ongoing.Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
