Proud dad in memorial tribute to murdered PC
Date published: 06 September 2013
THE father of murdered Diggle PC Nicola Hughes will host a charity golf day to honour his daughter’s memory.
Bryn Hughes has organised a number of fundraising events since the death of Nicola in September.
The 23-year-old was shot when she answered a bogus burglary call orchestrated by Droylsden killer Dale Cregan in Mottram. Her 32-year-old colleague Fiona Bone was also killed.
The golf day, at Dukinfield Golf Club on Friday, will raise funds for three charities — Victim Support, Care of Police Survivors (COPS) and The North-West Police Benevolent Society.
Mr Hughes, who will complete the North Pole Marathon next April to raise funds for charity, said: “Nicola was proud to serve her community and country as a police officer and ultimately sacrificed her life while serving the Greater Manchester Police Service.”
