Shell-shocked Sam’s search for tortoise
Date published: 06 September 2013
A VILLAGE has been put on alert in the search for a wanderlust tortoise.
Frazier, a two-year-old Hermann tortoise, belongs to schoolgirl Sam Booth’s family from Dobcross.
But he trundled off from their home at Briarfield Road and now anxious Sam has posted “missing” notices around the village in the hope locals will return the happy wanderer.
Sam (15), one of the Booth’s three children and a pupil at Saddleworth School, had spent hours scouring the village hedgerows and lanes looking for her pet.
“Frazier’s a real character,” she explained. “He just doesn’t like the idea of staying in one place at one time. Even though he has got plenty of garden space he’s a real adventurer and has got the urge to go out and explore.”
