Fancy that: Birds in dark over new light
Date published: 06 September 2013
A PIGEON fancier says his prized flock is suffering due to a newly-installed lamp-post which shines light on them 24-hours-a-day.
Sam Whitworth keeps 100 pigeons in the garage of his home in Linley Drive, Roundthorn.
The 76-year-old has kept birds since he was a child and he says his brood regularly win races and competitions.
But because of the constant light, the pigeons think it is still summer and are refusing to moult their feathers in readiness for a new coat next year.
A spokesman for EON said: “We take all complaints seriously and are arranging to meet with Mr Whitworth to discuss his concerns further.”
