Special-needs children to control own care budget
Date published: 10 September 2013
Oldham is leading a scheme set to revolutionise the lives of young people with special needs.
Changes in the Special Educational Needs and Disability law for those aged up to 25 will soon be given personal budgets to allow them to choose their own care and support services.
Oldham Council has been chosen as a pilot area to test the scheme, aimed at offering those affected more choice and control over choosing the support they need.
Oldham Council is staging an event to help families understand the changes on September 27 (5.30-9pm), at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
