Oldham Council’s environmental team collect the vegetables for Oldham Foodbank
OLDHAM’S ‘Bloom and Grow’ creations are continuing to spread joy: the resulting produce has gone to Oldham Foodbank.
Oldham Council’s environmental team donated plants and vegetables from the “Wow-bed” display in Oldham town centre, intended to show of Oldham’s award-winning horticultural successes.
Workers filled more than 20 boxes with vegetables for donation to residents in need.
Councillor Dave Hibbert, cabinet member for environment and housing, said: “It’s great we can use the plants and vegetables. Getting two uses out of something like the vegetables shows how even in these times of cuts, we are always resourceful.”
