Police in new booze blitz
Date published: 20 September 2013
POLICE are set to hit the streets in a battle against booze.
Officers will target Oldham town centre and Failsworth in “Operation Cocktail” on Friday and Saturday to drum home the effects and dangers of alcohol and how to stay safe on a night out.
As well as patrolling drinking hotspots, police will visit licensed premises and work with Street Angels.
The initiative coincides with Manchester’s “freshers” week; similar operations are taking place around the region. Officers will use social media throughout the week to highlight their experiences of dealing with alcohol-related incidents. Follow them at #InFocus.
