DANGER zone . . . the crossing in Chadderton Hall Road
A NEWLY-INSTALLED zebra crossing is to be replaced with traffic lights - less than a year after its installation.
The crossing, in Chadderton Hall Road, was erected following residents’ concerns about the safety of children on their way to school or the local park.
Nine months later the crossing was branded unsafe: motorists had been ignoring the white lines and failing to stop for pedestrians.
Traffic lights have now been installed to create a pelican crossing.
The road serves three schools, North Chadderton, Chadderton Hall Junior School and St Matthew’s Infant School, with Mills Hill Primary nearby.
