FAMILY and friends of a young Derker dad who died last year will honour his memory with a family fun day tomorrow.
Welder Stephen Greaves was only 28 when he lost his battle with stomach cancer last September.
An event to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at Oldham Cricket Club in Broadbent Road, Watersheddings, from 5pm.
There will be food, live music, a sports memorabilia auction and a raffle overseen by MC Michael Bradshaw.
Today, Stephen’s partner Stacey Arnold and her uncle David Thomas were swimming with sharks at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire. And Stephen’s close friends Gerry Jones and Gareth Hughes have already waxed their chests and backs and shaved their heads, raising £289 for the cause. It is hoped the trio of events will raise a total of £2,000 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice as a thank-you for the care Stephen received.
