Work clubs’ financial boost just the job

VOLUNTEERS who help thousands of jobseekers back into work have been given a cash boost.
Oldham and Hollinwood work clubs are among the first organisations to successfully apply for funding from the Co-operative Oldham Fund, set up by Oldham Council and Voluntary Action Oldham to support local good causes.
The Oldham Work Club — which runs a network of 20 groups — will receive £10,000 to run a training and accreditation scheme for volunteers.
Hollinwood Work Club will receive £5,000 to help people who want to start their own business or become self-employed.
Richard Outram, chairman of Oldham Work Club, said: “Oldham has a great network of work clubs, this funding will improve the quality of what we offer to local jobseekers.”
The Co-operative Oldham Fund offers low-level funding for smaller projects, and full funding for larger ones.
