Plan for the works in Uppermill
SCORES of residents visited an exhibition staged by United Utilities to show the extent of the sewer project at Church Road, Uppermill and the surrounding area.
Project manager Ian Grzelak said: “It was a great opportunity to chat to residents and allay some of their concerns.
“A couple of alternatives were suggested for managing the diversion and we have assured people we will investigate these.”
A fortnight ago United Utilities prevented a miserable winter for motorists by shelving moves to close a key road over winter. But the company still needs to improve the local sewer network in parts of Church Road, New Street and Bolton’s Yard.
The £1million project is underway, but road closures won’t happen until the spring.
Traffic restrictions are now:
Until December 16: Temporary traffic lights. Church Road, between the junction with New Street and Pickhill Lane.
March to July, 2014: Remaining road closures and diversions to allow new sewer pipes to be installed.
Dates and details to be confirmed nearer the time.
