We are after you, dumpers warned

COUNCIL chiefs are taking “firm action” against those who think they can leave their rubbish in the street.
Council officers recently served four £60 fixed-penalty notices in East Oldham for the dumping of household rubbish and black bags. East Oldham is one of the first areas targeted under the council’s new “Changing Behaviours” push.
Officers have visited residents to tell them how to properly dispose of rubbish and unwanted items.
The majority of residents have been supportive.
Councillor Steve Bashforth said: “The vast majority of East Oldham residents, like those across the borough, take pride in their communities and keep them clean and tidy. Cleaning up after people costs the council and residents a huge amount of money every year and in this current financial climate that cannot continue.”
