Oldham Open: Lee Nolan and his sculpture 'When The Man Comes Around'.
MORE creative talents than ever have entered this year’s Oldham Open art and design exhibition hosted by Gallery Oldham.
Artists and crafts people who live, study or work in the borough are eligible to take part in the exhibition, which runs until November 16.
Guests attended a reception at the Greaves Street venue to browse through the many paintings, photography, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, film and video. Most exhibits are available to buy.
Exhibition curator Joy Thorpe said: “We had well over 500 entries this year, which is a record number. From those, we’ve selected 362 items ranging from paintings and drawings to textiles and sculpture.
“There is a really good mix of work which highlights artistic ability across the area.
“This year we have seen a rise in town and city landscapes, whereas in the past we used to have a lot of paintings of rural scenes in Saddleworth.”
She is hosting a short guided tour of the exhibition on Wednesday, October 9, at 2pm.
“I’ll be guiding people around the show and just picking out a few pieces that caught our eye. Visitors should simply gather at the exhibition which is displayed on the gallery’s top floor.”
