Now hear this: return of town crier is back on
Date published: 08 October 2013
OYEZ, oyez . . . a town crier could still return to Saddleworth.
Earlier this year Saddleworth Parish Council discussed the possibility of having a crier for summer events such as Yorkshire Day, Yanks Weekend and the Rushcart festival.
The original idea was suggested to strengthen Saddleworth’s identity and recognise the importance of history and traditions.
Prospective candidates should contact parish council clerk Tony Marlor at: tony@saddleworthparishcouncil.org.uk
