Language boost for college
Date published: 08 October 2013
OLDHAM Sixth Form College has scooped £4,000 in recognition of its work to boost the number of students learning a foreign language.
It was the North of England winner in the 2013 British Academy Schools Language Awards.
And it could also receive another £4,000 if it is named overall winner next month.
The college offers A-level French, German, Spanish and Urdu, and AS level Chinese. The judges were impressed with its programme of language taster sessions, career talks and booster classes for year eight and nine pupils in local schools.
