Vera Davies: 100 today
A CHEERY centenarian had more to reason to be happy today after celebrating her birthday with a card from the Queen.
Vera Davies turned 100 surrounded by family and friends at Longwood Lodge nursing home, Queen’s Road, Oldham.
Daughter Kathleen Shaw (71) said: “She’s very bright, cheerful, bubbly, very happy and very positive.
“Her glass is always three-quarters full and she never complains. She is a lovely person.”
Born and bred in Oldham, Vera has lived at the care home for three years.
Her husband Thomas Davies, who she married in 1941, died in September, 1992. She has two daughters, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Vera even had a visit from Oldham Mayor, Councillor John Hudson, who popped in to wish her many happy returns.
