Parkin no problem

OLDHAM’S hugely-popular civic bonfire is moving to a new venue.
“The Big Bang” will take place at Oldham Edge on on Tuesday, November 5.
There will be a bonfire, street entertainers, family games and activities, plus food stalls selling traditional grub such as black peas, parkin and treacle toffee.
Oldham Council will make all its town-centre car parks free from 3pm onwards in the day.
First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO), which has many tenants neighbouring the site, is sponsoring the free event.
Last year’s spectacular show — the first in over a decade — drew 14,000 people to Boundary Park and was a huge success, but a new venue was needed because of Boundary park redevelopment.
The Big Bang will climax in a professional fireworks display.
Visitors will able to enter the site from 5pm onwards. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will be from 7pm.
