EXCITED pupils enjoyed a flying visit when RAF pilot Andrew Green dropped in... in his Merlin transport helicopter!
Andrew made a surprise landing at St Joseph’s Primary, Shaw on his way back to RAF Linton-on-Ouse from manoeuvres in the Lake District when he briefly put down on the school’s football pitch.
Andrew joined the RAF in 2004 and has been a pilot since 2009. Since then the flight lieutenant has served in Afghanistan, the Middle East and America.
The 30 year old from Shaw wanted to thank pupils for their fundraising for Help for Heroes.
He said: “I think the downdraft took them by surprise. Hopefully it captured their imagination and I will be visiting the school to talk to them about what I do.”
