ON the run . . . PC Damieon Pickles pushes PC Kristian Kurmul.
A POLICEMAN is preparing to run Oldham’s Milltown to Moors Half Marathon pushing a wheelbarrow to collect cash.
PC Damieon Pickles, a beat officer covering Werneth and Coppice, is raising money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
He will be pushing a wheelbarrow up and down the half-marathon’s gruelling, hilly route around Oldham and Saddleworth.
Damieon (42) said: “I know it seems a bit mad but I want people to see me coming with the wheelbarrow and donate cash. Using a wheelbarrow is a bit of fun but I really hope we can fill it with as much cash as possible. The heavier it gets, the better I’ll feel.”
Damieon has lived in Middleton for years and works in Oldham, so wanted to support Dr Kershaw’s, which is also Oldham police’s designated charity for the year.
Damieon will be running with colleague PC Kristian Kurmul (32): “When my legs start to hurt, Kristian will take over for a while.”
