LATICS stars sacrificed the big England game last night - for a game of bingo.
While most footballers would have been glued to the World Cup qualifier against Poland, Boundary Park boss Lee Johnson and his team visited Mecca Bingo in King Street.
Supporters got the cahnce to win Latics prizes including a season ticket, and a signed football and shirt.
Johnson tried his hand at calling the numbers, ribbing his players with unique, jokey names in the process.
And not for the first time this season, luck wasn’t on the side of the boys: winger Chris Sutherland thought he had won a game only to find it was a false call.
Johnson said: “We all had a great night; it was good for the squad to get out and have a bit of fun. The lads enjoyed it and it was great to see so many fans turn up.
“There’s no way I’m letting Sutherland - now aka Mr Dozy - get away with that false call, he’ll get ribbed for that.
“It was disappointing not to win: I had vowed to put my money towards a new player!
