Task force to sort out louts

A TASK force must be created to halt the spate of anti-social behaviour in Shaw and Crompton, Councillor David Murphy has urged.
The chairman of Shaw and Crompton parish council was speaking in the open forum at Monday’s parish council meeting.
The problem reached tipping point with a stabbing on October 5, prompting crisis talks between Councillor Rod Blyth and neighbourhood police.
Councillor Murphy said that the parish council should be looking at ways it can assist the police and doing what it can to prevent things spilling over.
He said: “We have to do something about the ongoing issue of anti-social behaviour in Shaw town centre, it has become terrible.
“I’d like to suggest we bring in a task force and look at diversionary tactics and other methods we can use to help the police tackle this growing problem.”
The proposals were met with widespread support
