OLDHAM Council has got its paws on four awards for its animal welfare work.
The council’s work has been recognised by the RSPCA for the fifth year in a row.
The authority won a gold award for its work with stray dogs, plus another award for its animal welfare policies and a top honour for “pioneering practice” — one of only four given out nationwide.
The last of those was for the response to the Shaw gas explosion in June 2012, when workers rescued 23 pets from the area around the blast site.
