OLDHAMERS are invited to honour the fallen with services across the borough during Remembrance Week.
Services will take place at several venues on Sunday. A roll of honour — with the names of all Oldhamers who have lost their lives serving their country since World War I — will appear on the council’s website, www.oldham.gov.uk.
Council leader Jim McMahon said: “Oldham Council is again showing support for the Royal British Legion’s outstanding charity work through its annual appeal. We have the deepest respect for all those who have given their lives for peace and security and I would ask all residents to please give generously again.”
Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will present its annual concert of remembrance at the weekend.
In the first half the choir will sing a selection from its repertoire of male voice favourites, followed by a sing-along of popular world war songs. The second half of the concert will include the Act of Remembrance. Diggle Band will also take part.
The concert takes place at the Uppermill Civic Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. Information: 01457 873182.
