TAKE a virtual tour of the inside of Oldham’s most important buildings, courtesy of a new 360-degree photography project.
Middleton-based Dan Root’s Google Streetview-style capture of the inside of the Old Town Hall offers people the chance to view the Egyptian room among others.
Mr Root, who is one of only a handful of Google-trusted photographers in the UK, explained how rewarding it was to photograph the Old Town Hall which has been unused since 1980.
He said: “The Old Town Hall is a magnificent building and it was great to be given the chance to photograph inside because its architecture is stunning.
“Not many people will have seen the interior of the building since it closed years ago so I’m sure they will enjoy looking around and it may even bring back a few memories.”
Also featuring in the Oldham Council commissioned project are Chadderton and Failsworth Town Halls, Royton Town Hall and clock tower, and Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre.
The Old Town Hall pictures were taken before construction started in turning it into a cinema and entertainment complex but Mr Root is relishing the opportunity to return.
