CHRONICLE photographer Darren Robinson was highly commended at the O2 North-West Media Awards 2013 last night.
Darren made the shortlist in the Photographer of the Year category and received his certificate from “Hollyoaks” actress Alex Fletcher in the magnificent setting of the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
He was beaten to top spot by Liverpool Echo snapper Jason Roberts, with the Merseysiders having a fine night collecting four prizes — Team of the Year for their “Victims of Hillsborough” coverage, Young Journalist (Joe Thomas) and the coveted Daily Newspaper of the Year title.
The Westmorland Gazette claimed the paid-for Weekly crown with former Chronicle reporter Anna Clarke among the team to collect their award.
Granada’s Rachel Townsend won “Scoop of the Year” for her story on Chancellor George Osborne travelling in first-class on a train with a second-class ticket and her colleague Dan Hewitt took the TV journalist crown.
