THE designer of this brightly-coloured Mahdlo Mobile has put her life in the fast lane thanks to the Oldham youth zone project.
Bethany Graham (12) won the competition to “wrap” a Nissan Juke car organised through the Mahdlo holiday club and Nissan’s Westway showroom.
And after her MM logos and eye-catching colours came out on top from a shortlist of six, the Blue Coat School Year-8 pupil was delighted to see the car revealed at the presentation event held at the Blue Tiffin last night, where Westway was hosting a ride-and-drive event with business leaders and guests.
“It was fantastic to see my A4 design put on a full-sized car. I started with the thought that it would be a Mahdlo mobile and wanted it to stand out when driven down the street so I decided against the yellow and grey colours for Mahdlo and went for the brightest colours in the box. It looks amazing.”
Bethany’s proud mum Joanne said she could not thank Mahdlo enough for the influence the youth zone has had on her daughter’s outlook.
“Quite literally, Mahdlo has changed her life.
“She had no confidence and was becoming agoraphobic then she discovered Mahdlo and she is a different person.
“We are very proud of what she has achieved and to win this competition is just brilliant. To see her posing for photographs sitting in the car and having the confidence to talk to the press is something we could not have even dreamed about 12 months ago.
“Now everywhere that the car goes people will know it as Bethany’s design. You won’t be able to miss it.”
Bethany’s success won her an iPad and a trip for all the family to the Nissan plant in Sunderland to see how the cars are made.
The five runners up were Crompton Primary School pupil Millie Tarbuck (10), from Shaw, Blue Coat School pupil Sophie Pickering (13), from St Mary’s, St Annes CE school pupil Thea Casey (9), from Royton, Royton and Crompton School pupil Amelia Sheridan (12), from Shaw and Oasis Academy pupil Amaan ul haq (12), from Coppice.
They all received a framed reminder of their designs.
