Gun terror for debt collector
Date published: 12 November 2013
A TERRIFIED debt collector has been robbed at gunpoint for the second time in six months.
The 46-year-old woman was with her 20-year-old daughter on Longfellow Crescent, Moorside, at about 6.50pm on Friday, November 1, when she was confronted by the two men, with at least one brandishing a gun.
The victim pulled up in her car and had just got out when she saw the robbers running towards her.
They were wearing dark clothing, black boots and balaclavas and one was holding a silver gun. The other was also carrying something in his hand although it is unclear if this, too, was a weapon. The pair demanded cash from the startled woman and frightened she would be attacked, she gave them money.
“At one point during her ordeal, the woman fell back into the driver’s seat of her car and one of the thieves pointed the gun directly at her forehead. Eventually, the two men ran off.
The woman and her daughter then drove off and called the police.
Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Det-Con Natalie Sykes said: “This was a frightening episode for both the woman and her daughter.
“Both feared for their safety and the woman genuinely believed the gunman was going to pull the trigger.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
