A SCHOOL expects to donate a huge £10,000 to Children in Need and another £2,500 for the Philippines disaster fund thanks partly to pupils’ donations through a reward scheme.
Hathershaw College has raised the remarkable sum through a rewards system called EPraise and various fundraising activities.
Under the reward scheme, pupils earn points for achievements which can then be spent on a range of items, services or trips, or donated to charity.
Anjum Raza (39) the school’s pastoral manager said around £7,500 of the £10,000 estimated total for Children in Need has come from the incentive scheme.
He said: “To raise £10,000 is amazing. Through the reward system, our pupils earn points which can be converted into cash. This can pay for things like trips or MP3 music players but the pupils have decided to donate lots of their points to Children in Need.
