WOMEN at the Pakistani Community Centre in Oldham welcomed local MP Debbie Abrahams as she spoke to 700 women during the Eid festival.
The MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth was invited by the students of the Jamia Muhammadiyah Islamic College to give a talk about the challenges women face in the 21st century.
Aiming to bring together women from around the area to celebrate the Eid festival, the event also acted as a forum for visitors to think about their community, faith and country.
During the event, Mrs Abrahams spoke about the importance of universal principles of kindness, honesty and integrity and highlighted the effects of domestic violence against women by explaining her campaign on this issue.
The Labour MP said: “It was a real honour to be asked to speak by Jamia Muhammadiyah students at this event and meet so many wonderful women from the local Asian community.”
