Brewery pledges pub will re-open

A CLOSED Shaw pub will reopen once new managers have been found, its owners have said.
Enterprise Inns owns the Duke of York in Market Street where notices recently appeared in windows saying the pub was empty and being monitored by a security firm.
The pub was run for many years by Alan and Louise Heywood.
The notices state the pub has no items of value inside and is being protected by Secure Empty Property.
They also give the telephone number and website details of a national service centre for any inquiries.
An Enterprise Inns spokesman told the Chronicle: “We would like to reassure the residents of Shaw that the closure of the Duke of York is purely temporary, following the former publicans’ decision to cease trading. Enterprise would like to thank Mr and Mrs Heywood for running a great community pub for many years.
“While minor works are carried out on site, we are actively recruiting for a new publican who would like to run this popular local pub and provide good quality, home-made bar food.
