Jamie fund total swells to £25,000
Date published: 22 November 2013
A MEMORIAL fund set up following the death of toddler Jamie Heaton has hit £25,000.
The two-year-old was killed in June, 2012, when a gas blast destroyed his home in Buckley Street, Shaw.
Jamie’s parents Kenny and Michelle — who was hanging out washing when the blast happened — set up the fund with the hope of buying play equipment for Bullcote Park where he took his first steps.
The family, who have since moved to Heyside, lost everything in the blast but say the community has rallied round to help them.
Since the Jamie’s Something Special Fund was set up, Kenny and Michelle — also parents to Jack (10) and Jodie (6) — have staged a number of events to raise money.
The next one will be a Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 1, from 11am-4pm at the Lifelong Learning Centre in High Street, Shaw.
