Cancer centre scheme in line for award

OLDHAM Cancer Support Centre’s new initiative to help recovering cancer patients is in the running for national recognition.
Back To The Future is a two-week support programme designed to help people with cancer when they are ready to return to work or the community and will be held every two months through 2014.
The group has reached the final six of a competition organised by the Big Lottery and Granada TV, “The People’s Millions”. The winner will receive funding for their project.
Centre manager Beryl Vale said: “We are delighted to be in contention. We genuinely believe we are offering an incredible programme. With this funding we can provide the kind of all-encompassing care people living with cancer require.”
The awards ceremony will be screened on Granada TV tomorrow from 6pm.
