PEDAL power: Matthew Walls
A CROMPTON House School pupil is celebrating after pedalling his way into the Olympic Talent programme.
Matthew Walls (15) earned a place on the team for his showing in the Revolution cycling event at Manchester Velodrome.
The Year 11 student, who rides for Team Velocity, was fourth in the sprint event despite being one of the youngest riders.
The Velocity team now has three riders selected for Olympic development programmes for Rio in 2016.
Matthew, who was the British 2012 under-14s champion, said his dream is to win gold medals.
“I want to be part of a gold medal-winning team at the Olympics and this is another step on the road to achieving my dream.
Velocity team manager Phil Braybrook added: “Matthew has huge talent and potential to be successful.
“His progress has been fantastic and everybody at the club is delighted for him.”
